Idle curiosity moment:

For all the tabletop gamers on my flist, what is your ABSOLUTE FAVORITE special ability found in any RPG? Favorite spell, Discipline, Boon, class ability, cantrip, stupidly awesome and badly unbalanced Racial Ability That Should Not Be, etcetera?

Also, if you've horrifically abused same (or seen it being done), please share with the rest of the class. >:3

Oh god I have to pick one?

I think my favorite...would be the druid summons for D&D 3.5. Full round summon...but there isn't an upper limit, and you can just abort to cast that sucker. Hello, army of elementals, how are you? >:3

...Mind, this was the same campaign the following exchange happened.

"...So I could stonespike through...anything, yeah?"
"Even the orc?"
"And spread prongs on the end of it?"
"....If you hit..."
"*does* :3"

...My family really just uses Mr. Welch's List as suggestions.

My priestess of Velsharoon (she was a 5' tall dwarf, BTW) had a specially made scythe weapon with the spell Creeping Doom attached to it. It could do up to 1000 points of damage with one swoop and it "looked" awesome when activated.

She'd bang the butt end of the handle on the ground and say Creeping Doom, at which point, up to 1000 insects would appear (crawling and flying) and attack whatever they were directed to with each insect doing 1 point of damage.

I also really enjoyed the Touch of Lovitar my priestess/warrior Lizardwoman had, which inflicted damage on the enemy she touched by revisiting wounds the enemy had suffered (damage depended on die roll, yea! for 20's!).

*sigh* I really enjoyed that dwarf character. Shame I got cocky and she had her brains sucked out by a Mindflayer in a pit fight.

God I hate creeping doom! That spell is horrible on people who are used to playing characters in heavy armor.

"Hewwo. I'mma bug and I dun care about your full plate! :3"

Good usage, though. XD

*Laughs* That spell cost me a pretty penny to get it attached and I could only use it 3 times in 24 hours, but it was very useful.

We were a party of evil intent and the BEST thing that we did (for us and our money pouches) was to find a frost giant, kill it, raise it from the dead, send it to attack a town and then show up and charge an arm and a leg to get rid of it. Or just let it wreck havoc in the town and follow behind picking what we wanted and selling the rest of the citizens into slavery who managed to escape death/maiming from the zombie frost giant.

Ahhh. Good times indeed.

As normally a player of Good characters ( When I'm not Dming ) I'm very sad.

Though, when I do play evil characters, I'll admit, that's brilliant and I wish I thought of it!

We weren't a nice party. The mage was insane. We had an anti-paladine of Velsharoon and after my dwarf char died, I played the lizardwoman and she had a habit of eating fellow party members (or at least trying to eat them).

Mages usually come in two flavors: insane, power-hungry, and somewhat prone to cackling evilly, or studious, responsible, and somewhat boring.

From the title of this post, you can guess which flavor I'm playing.

Ours was insane. the DM made him roll for it twice. He fired into melee without a second thought and was afraid of women which was hilarious with my Lizardwoman char as half the time his char forgot she was female (it's not easy telling the sexes apart if you're not Lizardperson *snicker*) and she'd get all upset over it and remind him and then serious backpedalling and warnings to stay away from him ensued.

Lemme put it to you this way.

I opted to have the party mage cast a fireball centered on me to scorch the little bastards rather then deal with them myself.

Its that bad. XD

The Hero system powers. Any of them. If you have the points to spend you can make any ability ridiculously broken. One of my friends designed a power that could make his character 'larger than the observable universe' as a half phase action. XD

Clearly, this ability was designed to allow him to engage Tenga Toppen Gurren Lagann in single combat.

If I can be horrifically boring and predictable, my favourite "attribute" in the original BESM was "Own a Giant Robot". Guess what that did?

My second favourite are the "Zeal" and "Weariness" stats from Polaris. Just what the represented in game worked so well for me.

Only if you took the "Whiny little bitch" defect. XD

I remember rocket punching what was effectively a normal sized Magical Girl badguy. Good times.

I know. D: Someday.
