...Wow, that was a surprise. I'd imagined he'd still be around by 2030, working on the 32nd Wheel of Time novel. Bit like Steven King and David Eddings. I never made it past book three of those massive Wheel of Time doorstop novels, so the lack of ending isn't exactly breaking my heart, but for any reader the idea of a series without an end is sad in itself.

Jordan said, some time before his death, that he would allow a ghost writer to finish the series. We can hope!

I go through books so quickly that Wheel of Time was the only series that I could count on to occupy me on long drives and flights. (I read book ten in one sitting on the way to Europe) It was neat to go back to the beginning and look at how much the characters had changed. Mat kept getting better and better but after a while I just wanted to slap Rand upside the head.
