I'd be Billy from The Giraffe, the Pelly, and Me. I'd fight crime, have exciting animal friends, and eventually get my own candy store with weird imaginary stuff in it. It'd be epic.

You poor deprived man. You missed out on EPIC PELICAN-GIRAFFE-MONKEY-BOY CRIMEFIGHTING WINDOWCLEANING ACTION with fantastic candy and valuable lessons about obtaining venture capital for your small business.

Besides, it's Roald Dahl. I thought people our age had some kind of requirement to have read most of Roald Dahl's body of children's works and the complete poetry of Shel Silverstein by the age of ten.

I read a bit of Roald Dahl, but I moved right from Matilda to A wrinkle in time (Different Author, I know) so I think I missed a lot that was inbetween...

...please tell me you've at least read Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. I think I may weep if you haven't.

Also, I gave Madeline L'Engel a miss somehow and wound up spending my late elementary years alternating between reading Star Trek novels, horrible dystopian sci-fi, and Lillian Jackson Braun.
