So pointless.

Series: One Piece.
One Piece: Not mine.
Rating: G.
Summary: Wooden sailing vessels are sadly lacking in the air conditioning department.
It’s humid today.
The air is thick and sticky, but still a few degrees short of truly miserable. Later in the day, it might become unbearable, might turn into the kind of day that makes tempers short and whining prevalent and makes Sanji tire his arms out crushing ice for drinks. But for now, it’s just damply uncomfortable.
Nami is watching the clouds on the horizon, chewing her lower lip in thought. Sanji is next to her, tie already at half mast, fanning himself slowly with one hand and asking his Nami-san if there’s anything he can bring her—her weather-glass, a drink, some sunscreen, his heart, anything at all.
Zoro is also looking at the sky, but only for long enough to settle himself into an area that promises to remain shaded through the hottest part of the day before dropping off to sleep. He’s miscalculated, of course—the sun doesn’t move from west to east.
Robin is helping Usopp with his hair. On soggily warm days like this, Usopp’s hair takes on a life of its own, frizzing and curling and snarling viciously until Usopp can tell the tale of How Great Captain Usopp Was Attacked By The Terrible Hair-Beast From The Muggy Isles with a completely straight face. As proud as Usopp is of his hair most times, he’s threatened three times already this morning to shave it all off. Robin soothes him gently and sends another pair of hands to work on the younger boy’s tangled bangs.
Luffy is crouching over the prostrate brown puffball that normally calls itself Tony Tony Chopper, poking the reindeer to reassure himself that his doctor is only overheated and not dead. Thus encouraged, he proceeds to upend an entire bowl of pilfered crushed ice over Chopper’s limp form, and Sanji’s half-hearted bellows are easily drowned out by Chopper’s happy sighs.
Sanji drags Luffy into the kitchen by his ear and puts him to work pulverizing more ice for Chopper. Zoro’s nose starts to sunburn while he dozes in the sharpening late morning sun. The Terrible Hair-Beast is finally vanquished by the Lady Robin and her Thousand Flying Combs. Things quiet down, except for occasional shouts of “Gomu Gomu no Yuki!” in the galley and Sanji yelling about his kitchen being sprayed by ice chips.
After a while, Nami tells them that there will be rain, not storms, this afternoon. Her announcement is followed by a chorus of ragged cheers, because damn, it’s humid today.
