I managed to be emo for about half an hour today about the fact that I'm not really AWESOME at anything--good occasionally, mediocre most of the time, utter failure in many areas, but never AWESOME. And then somebody said something funny to me. I laughed like a dumbass, felt better, and realized Damn, I can't even manage to be successful at being emo. So I gave up. XD

Lucky you! I'm trying to train myself out of the "somebody somewhere is better than me, therefore I suck" mentality that I'm had since...well, forever. Five years and counting, and the fact that I can't get properly emo over it anymore is a good sign. XD

I think it's because I'm surrounded by awesome, creative people who can draw or sing or dance or act or are smarter than I am. They're great friends, but your self-esteem tends to die a little. And then you feel like such a HORRIBLE BITCH for feeling even slightly bad about the awesomeness of your friends. ARG. ;_;

It's hard to see what everybody else is all excited about when you do something, but when somebody else does something, well damn, that's hot shit, isn't it? I have some small skill, but there are lots of people who are better writers than I am, even just in the OP fandom. There are lots of people who are worse (amen, GAFF), but still, I rank myself somewhere in the middle. About all I excel at is prolificness.
