Drabble pile.
Oct. 12th, 2006 10:11 pmThese were originally posted to an OP drabble community, and these are actual, 100-words-or-less, for-real drabbles. Holy shit. Anyway. Eventually, I'll get around to finishing one of these sets.
Title: 01. Doctor Online
Rating: PG-13.
Word Count: 100.
A/N: The song that inspired this is far better known as "1-800-SUICIDE," though it's NOT a deathfic.
Theme Table Thingie.
He corners the Strawhats’ doctor in the storeroom one day, crouching in front of him, face dead-sober.
“If I ever get hurt in such a way that I’ll never fight again, injured so badly I can’t do it myself—I want you to end me.” His eyes are dark and implacable—this is something that’s been preying on his mind. A swordsman faces death every day, but there are some fates that are worse than dying.
Chopper bursts into tears and tells him not to say that, but unspoken under the tears he can hear the agreement, man to man.
Title: 11. God Bless the Models
Pairing: Very light Nami/Sanji, the beginnings of Zoro/Sanji/Usopp.
Warnings: RED SHIRT. YES, THAT ONE.
Rating: PG.
Word Count: 100.
A/N: There's Nami/money in here too, but that's everybody's OTP.
Theme Table Thingie.
He needs a new belt rather badly, and she insists on tagging along—to make sure he’s not getting cheated, of course.
When they return three hours later, he’s blushing to the curl of his eyebrow and she looks craftily pleased with herself as she tells him to go get dressed.
He serves dinner in painted-on black pants and a brand-new red silk dress shirt that looks like it was poured around him. Zoro is drooling into his soup, and Usopp has dropped his fork three times already.
She smiles around her straw and counts her shopping trip a victory.
Title: 13. Die of a Broken Heart
Pairing: Implied Nami/Robin.
Warnings: None.
Rating: PG for alcohol use.
Word Count: 100.
Theme Table Thingie.
He’s drunk, drunk and a mess in a way that he can only be in front of the two people on the ship that he doesn’t have anything to prove to.
“I shou’ be happy, right? They’re together an’ that makes ‘em happy an’ I want my princesses to be happy so oh god why can’t I jus’ be happy for ‘em?”
Usopp gently reminds Sanji that he’s only human—he’s allowed to feel hurt, even though the girls couldn’t help it. When the chef finally passes out, Chopper washes the tearstains from his face and puts him to bed.
Title: 15. Teenage Recoil
Rating: G.
Word Count: 95.
A/N: Pre-Water 7.
Theme Table Thingie.
When Sanji sighs over her, it’s the foolish crush of a teenage boy, nothing more.
When Chopper is happy to see her, it’s because he’s a sweet child, not because she’s worth being near.
When Nami offers a secretive grin, it’s because girls her age always need a confidant and there’s not another woman for leagues around.
When Luffy offers her friendship and an easy smile with nothing else attached, she forcibly reminds herself that he’s only seventeen, barely a man and still naïve to the ways of the world.
Sometimes, she feels so old.
Title: 22. Blood Music
Rating: PG.
Word Count: 99.
A/N: Yes, "tintinnabulate" is a word.
His blood sings a soft tune in his ears, a lullaby.
It sings I’m still alive.
It trills My heart still beats.
It tintinnabulates, at that delicate frequency between a sob and a sigh, I still have all my limbs.
That song was his only company for two months, and he knows its slow-changing harmonies well, knows the woodwinds of his lungs and the tympani of his heart and the whispery fluting of his blood through his veins.
The tempo picks up. Soft scarlet drops patter percussion on the ground, but it’s not his own instruments that he’s playing.
Title: 26. Send Me an Angel
Pairing: Nami/Conis, Sanji/everything female.
Warnings: None.
Rating: PG.
Word Count: 99.
A/N: This is theonly good version best cover I've ever heard of this song. XD
Theme Table Thingie.
Conis-chan is very sweet.
Conis-chan is very cute.
Conis-chan plays the harp beautifully.
Conis-chan knows the geography of this island, and would be of great help with mapmaking.
Conis-chan has wings.
Sanji, being himself, has already started making his move. Nami shuts him down immediately. For once, she wants a chance at a girl before Sanji has perved all over her, copped eighty-seven different kinds of “accidental” feels, and undressed her a hundred and fifteen times with his eyes. Nami hates sharing.
And then old man shows up with the miraculous little waver.
Eh, girls with wings are overrated.
