The concert went very very well. We raised a buttload of money, filled up boxes with canned goods and books, and the concert overall went with only relatively minor hitches, including the fact that I didn't get to see it. Why? I was backstage working the visual aides. Why did I volunteer for that? Because I'm the anime club's Chief Drudge and Origami Folder, and sitting backstage with a computer while the rest of the club sees the concert qualifies as "drudgery." Not that I mind drudgery, which is why I volunteer for it so often, but I like to complain about in nonetheless. It fulfills my deep-seated need for curmudgery. Oh well, I got to hear the concert at least, and I got to hang out with Piano Squall and Lady Anu backstage. I finally got a signed poster (huzzah).

On a related note, Piano Squall's fangirls are hardcore scary. Verging on psychotic stalkerdom. Some of them came from as far away as Ohio to see him. They brought him birthday and Christmas presents. They also said some VERY unflattering things about the club on Piano Squall's forums--apparently they were pissy because he refused to have lunch with them. Gee, considering the way his fans act, I don't blame him.

We were on kind of a tight schedule (we could only afford one night at a hotel, and we needed to get in rehersal time, especially considering that Samwise wanted to play a violin piece with him and they needed to practice together), but he did have some wiggle time to spend however he liked. And he chose to spend it with the club. Why? Because the club busted ass to get him here, planned this whole concert independently, and was planning on paying for the whole shebang out of pocket (which meant giving up going to Otakon as a club this year, as the event was going to cost double our semester budget) before the Fairy Godmother that is Diane DiSalvo waved her magic wand and put it under the perview and budget of the Cultural Committee. And he was staying at the same hotel as most of his fans, and went out of his way to hide from them. Fortunately, none of them recognized him out of costume. Chew on THAT, bitches.

PlotbunnyTiff, who is President of the VJC anime club, left a very polite post on the forums...and is flambeing them in her LJ. Go Tiff.

Happy birthday, Sin. Your events minions give you love and make sacrifices unto your name on the day of your birth.
