Slow news day.
Mar. 7th, 2007 10:33 amSo, I was reading an article on how NASA is too poor to save us from going out like the dinosaurs...
"These are asteroids that are bigger than 460 feet in diameter — slightly smaller than the Superdome in New Orleans. They are a threat even if they don't hit Earth because if they explode while close enough — an event caused by heating in both the rock and the atmosphere — the devastation from the shockwaves is still immense. The explosion alone could have with the power of 100 million tons of dynamite, enough to devastate an entire state, such as Maryland, they said."
WHY ARE WE THE EXAMPLE STATE? O_o
In other news...
The new arc has been a fascinating study in what happens when you take the sane people out of the Strawhat equation. XD
The "weak" characters (Nami, Usopp, and Chopper) have been separated from the main group, and have spent most of their free time a) running and b) screaming, like most normal people would when confronted with zombies and vampires and invisible perverts. The rest of the crew, when confronted with the same hazards, has steamrollered them with great amusement and absolutely no trouble at all. It's been an interesting look at the power gap between the fighting characters and the non-fighting characters on the crew.
This arc has the potential to showcase the strengths of the supposedly "weak" characters--I have a good feeling that the puzzle in this arc will be solved with brains instead of fists. :D I also feel like Nami, Chopper, and Usopp are being herded in a particular direction for a reason--their experience has run a lot like the path through a haunted house, while Luffy & co. have just been kicking through the walls going "HAY WHUT'S UP LOL." Wonder where each party will end up?
Also: Robin has been hardcore rocking the gothic look this arc. Hot y/y?

Date: 2007-03-07 04:42 pm (UTC)I too am extremly pleased that we finally get to focus on Nami, Usopp and Chopper, and that we just know that Luffy & Co. are doing fine.
Also. Robin is seriously rocking the goth look. ♥♥

Date: 2007-03-08 04:47 am (UTC)Why is Maryland the example state? Cause if Maryland is going down, its sure as hell taking DC with it!

Date: 2007-03-08 05:48 am (UTC)I think the biggest sign of our irrational love of the Chesapeake is that we all know how polluted it is, and we eat things that come out of it anyway. XD

Date: 2007-03-08 05:54 am (UTC)How sad is it that NASA is too poor to look for deadly asteroids, even if it IS only a 1/145000 chance that one will kill us by 2020?

Date: 2007-03-08 07:57 am (UTC)The difference is really amusing.
No, what I hope to see is how the 'strong' totally mess up and get saved by the 'weak' group, so everyone can see their value.

Date: 2007-03-08 10:22 pm (UTC)I personally absolutely love that Na/Uso/Cho are finally getting a crazy adventure of their own, and that a lot of time is focusing on them :DD And I hope you're right about the puzzle solved by brains thing, because if there's anyone who would sit and puzzle out a mystery rather than beating it down, it would be Usopp and Nami. Chopper to a degree. Although the other group's attitude cracks me up, too, especially the whole "let's ride the three-headed dog" jaunt XD
I love this arc so much already :D It's just too cool.

Date: 2007-03-09 03:45 am (UTC)Never have I seen something so simultaneously endearing and retarded as Luffy trying to teach Cerberus to shake. X_x Snaps, but I hope it comes down to Usopp and Nami charging in to the rescue--it'd be a nice reversal, and a way for them to prove that they can take care of themselves.

Date: 2007-03-10 08:09 am (UTC)Luffy almost always manages to be endearing and retarded at once, but never more so when he all "LOOKIT I CAN TRAIN ANIMALES TOO HUR HUR HUR" And WOOOORD on Nami and Usopp. Oh, I so hope that happens, because that would just be damn awesome. This really doesn't feel like a massive boss-battle fight arc, like say Enies Lobby or Skypiea did. But it may be because we're just getting into the arc, really, and the massive amount of enemies haven't appeared yet (I hope they never do, because a puzzle/mystery arc would be cool). But anywho, I hope you're right.
