In random fandom news...
May. 30th, 2007 07:38 pmTiff and I dropped our registration crap for Yaoi-Con in the mail last night. We're goin' to California!
Also, decided no one would ever be my friend ever again if I wrote Jack Aubrey/Smoker for that Aubreyad/OP crossover
mettathron is after me to write. After all, Jack Aubrey is a stocky, barrel-chested blond with a short temper and a near-excessive fondness for food. I'd never slash Smoker with anyone like that. *snerk*
...ah, fuck, but Strikethrough '07 is depressing the hell out of me. Well, I gave being cheerful a shot. By the by, kids, people have been reporting spyware infections after visiting the WarriorsForInnocence site. Kindly give your computer a once-over with your malware protection programs if you've been there--I'm doing that as we speak. Er, type.
I want a cookie. ;_;

fandom_counts is...strangely heartwarming. There are so many of us, and we never realize it, happy in our little niches, separated by preference and fandom and even by native language into tiny bubbles of close-knit family. But there. Are. So. Many. Of. Us.
It's not something you grasp, even after seeing that 20,000 people attended Otakon or that anime is a billion-dollar industry in the United States alone, because those are impersonal numbers, because being in a crowd doesn't mean you can get you head around how many people are in it. But seeing that in just over four hours close to TEN THOUSAND fen on LJ alone can stand up to be counted...
It's breathtaking.
