You know, three people were responsible for my lifelong love of science. One of them was my mother, who pushed me early and often in that direction--at an age when most little girls got Barbies, I got a rather pimping microscope for Christmas.

One of them was actually Bill Nye the Science Guy--his show and a series of environmentally conscious science teachers helped me to wind up working where I do today.

The third one died yesterday.

Adios, Mr. Wizard. May a flight of hot air balloons made with paper bags, string, and candle nubs sing thee to thy rest.

That is a vary sad thing. I still remember siting infrount of the tv and watching him. It was a good time because you were haveing fun and learning at the same time. I wonder how many people would say that he was who made them what they are today.

I remember watching this show when I was younger and then eagerly trying out each experiment in my own kitchen, despite the havoc it wreaked and the wrath I faced from my parents (to their credit, I did break our dispose-all...FOR SCIENCE!)When I read this I was sad but it did help me remember all the good times me and my best friend had watching the show in our living rooms and making notes in our messy 4th-grader handwriting on what experiments to try first and at whose house this time. So here's to you, Mr. Wizard! We men and women of nerdy persuasion salute you.
