JESUS IT'S A ZOMBIE GET IN THE CAR
Jun. 13th, 2007 09:01 pmFucking Fort Detrick. Ebola wasn't good enough for you bitches, nooooo...
Didn't know anything was wrong until I started heading home from work. This hellacious thunderstorm broke out when I was nearly home, and traffic slowed to a crawl, and then it just...stopped. I sat there in the rain for about ten minutes with the car in park and then people all of the sudden started getting out of their cars and running, and big SUVs started smashing their way to the shoulder to get out of there. It took me a minute to think to turn on the radio.
The emergency broadcaster said they flew a contaminated person from Detrick to Hopkins and that's where the infection started. Baltimore City residents are being told to evacuate in an orderly manner, which means there's chaos, fires, and looting. The Inner Harbor has been declared a dead zone. The National Guard is coming and they have shoot-to-kill orders.
I drove home on the median. Stopped by the mall to try to get Tiff. No dice, mall's swarming--it's got a Metro stop right next to it that connects directly to Hopkins. I had to leave without getting out of the car. Essie's down a headlight, but sturdy Japanese construction seems to have won the day versus zombies, at least for now.
I wish I'd gotten that oil change. Wish I'd filled up today. Wish I'd replaced my serpentine belt like Will's been after me to do. Wish like hell I'd bought that katana I've always wanted. 'Cause Essie, a boken, a couple of long kitchen knives, this laptop, and Vivi are all I've got left. Oh, and my highly ironic "zomBiELIEVE" t-shirt, which I'm really regretting wearing today. My laptop's battery is running low. I have to call my mom while the cell towers are still up.
I hope Tiff's somehow okay. I'll try the mall one last time before I go for good.
After...well, Essie's got enough in her tank to get me to Crisfield, and I'll just have to hope the ferries are still running. If not, I'm gonna have to steal a boat.
See you on Tangier Island.
