The saddest piece of writing-related news I've seen in a long time: Terry Pratchett's been diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer's.

I'm with one of the commenters on GAFF: "Why is it that the universe wants his wonderful brain? Can't it take someone else's? Dan Brown's, maybe?"

Srsly. I was kind of expecting Discworld to just keep rolling onwards in all its majesty and crackery forever. And then finding out this...it's so sad that such a devastating thing could happen to such a charming and clever person.

Terribly depressing, isn't it.

Though he's going into it with a good attitude. I think he'll be a fighter.

Brian told me and I was just like...WRY!!!!!!! He's a strong man, though, and he's not going to take it lying down so I'm trying to be hopeful about the whole thing. Rat's knees. It's hard though. If tattoos could cry, I think mine would.

Well isn't that ironic. fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck

I wouldn't even with Alzheimer's on Dan Brown, but dammit, that's just not fair.

Yeah... it's terrible that something like this should happen to such an incredibly creative and well-loved guy, but diseases don't discriminate. I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but... yeah. Sadness.
