Schadenfreude...

Hmmmm...back to the subject of friends-only journals. You know what I'd like? A strangers-only journal. Only people who have nothing to do with me and are unlikely to ever meet me may read it. No editing to keep a secret from certain portions of your friendbase or to keep from offending people. It's kind of like how you can spill incredibly embarassing things or complete secrets to a stranger at a bus stop or a cab driver (Taxicab Confessions, anyone?). Things like "My best friend and I are in love with the same guy, but my best friend is male and the guy is straight," or "I'm thinking about going into drug smuggling," or "I'm going to kill my husband. Would you listen to my plan and please point out any flaws you may see?" (One of these things has actually happened to me. Guess which.)

A complete stranger can be trusted to give you their honest opinion, because they have no reason to lie, and will likely listen to you just because your life sucks, and hearing about bad things happening to other people always brings a bit of sunshine to anyone's day. Schadenfreude, makin' me feel glad that I'm not you...

I want a Schadenfreude t-shirt. Schadenfreude in sparkly letters with a smiley face on the front, the definition--"Happiness at the misfortune of others"--on the back. ^_^

I feel quixotic today. ^_^
