I was taking a short drive tonight, took a glance at my full tank of gas, and I very nearly decided to go visit my parents for the Fourth of July.

My parents live 2350 miles away from me.

The only thing that stopped me was the realization that (since I'd just paid my rent) I didn't have enough money for gas to get me there. Seriously. I glanced at the one-liter of Diet Coke and my purse next to me and went, "I have everything I really need for a road trip right here." Hooray for random manic impulses. Read this and know the only reason you're not filing a missing person report is because I paid my rent a bit early.
