So then. Today was my last day of work.

Naturally, it was the best damn day of work I've ever had.

Both of the people I wasn't in the mood to put up with were "sick," and today was just...a day. The GBB and the other geeky guys in the department snickering because they'd found about a gig of porn on a laboratory computer and had a good guess as to whose it was, training a friend of mine in using a program I helped develop, getting complimented by the GBB, PW-III deciding he was an elite haxx0r and trying to hack the company's network from a locked-down computer just to prove that he could, construction fumes making everyone giggly, and finally getting my hands on some of the product I was working on when I started there so I can show it to people and say, "I helped make this."

I nearly cried. Damn, I'm going to miss that place. Stressful and stupid as work could be, stress-inducing and stupid as my coworkers could be, I'm still going to miss them all. Well, almost all.

On a related topic, why the hell do people keep assuming I'm an artist?

Sounds like you had a good day. People will always miss what they've taken in to being a daily routine. I consider you a writing artist, but I've never seen any of your drawings. Do you draw? I know I can't. Thus is why I make up for it in english when I write essasys and stories that always get my english teacher dancing cause they now know there are some people in her class that can write (I'm not kidding, my english teacher wanted me to help her teacher her class how to write a good TAKs paper, o_O).

I can't draw. Stick figures are about the extent of my artistic talent. I also cannot sing, or play a musical instrument. People who meet me assume I can do any or all of these things, for some reason. They tend to be surprised that I'm in the sciences, profession-wise.

I'm going to miss my coworkers and that crappy old asbestos-riddled lab bulding. My coworkers were the reason why I didn't quit that job after a couple of months--I know I could've probably gotten another job elsewhere that paid more, but I'll accept less pay for not waking up in the morning and having my first thought be "I don't want to go to work."

Yeah, alot of people say that they'd enjoy a job that had nice co-workers instead of a job that paid alot, but had bad co-workers. I think anybody would miss their friends, even if they were only work friends.

People assume you're an artist because you have spiffy, hand drawn icons! *cough* Er, sorry. Ego acting up. *Gigasweatdrop*

Probably because you can write so well. I guess they tend not to think of "the arts" as general solo things, and assume that if you can do one, you can probably do another?

So am I. Rather profoundly glad, actually.

*laughs* people think you're an artist for the same reason that they think I play guitar, keyboard and drums.....they take a look at you and assign you roles based on your appearance....and if nothing else, you come off as quirky and creative....which YOU ARE! The thing is a lot of people equate "creative" with "artistic" and there is a bit of a difference there...
