Holy shit, it's yuri.
Feb. 21st, 2006 12:37 pmSad as it is, these two are the closest thing I have to a true OTP out of the Strawhats--I have a hard time imagining either of them with anyone else. Sorry, Sanji, no pretty-lady love for you.
Title: Pleasant Surprise
Series: One Piece.
One Piece: Not mine.
Summary: Nami/Robin. 'Nuff said.
Nico Robin hadn’t thought it possible for her to be surprised anymore. Between her own experiences with the very worst of human nature and her incredible grasp on the pattern and flow of historical events, she’d assumed she had a handle on what people were likely to do to each other.
Monkey D. Luffy had been the first truly extraordinary person she had met in a very long time, but she had been expecting that of a man who bore the Will of D—predicting that he would be utterly unpredictable. His decision to allow her to join his crew flew in the face of all logic and was therefore almost a sure bet.
After she had joined the crew, she’d thought that she had marked out the patterns of their behavior to a nicety—Chef-san would flirt, Swordsman-san would harbor quiet suspicions, Doctor-san would panic and overreact, Longnose-san would lie, Captain-san would be utterly random, and Navigator-san would concentrate on what was important to Navigator-san.
Robin wasn’t precisely sure when she’d become part of “what was important to Navigator-san.”
The younger girl had snuck up on her, ambushed her, hiding herself under bitter skin like one of her mikan fruits. So sweet within…she’d never seen her coming until she was already there.
Now, Chef-san was hitting on both of them precisely equally as they sat in the shade of branches covered in fluttering leaves and soft round fruit, clearly not wanting to show favor one way or the other, hope shining eternal in his boyish face. Robin resisted the urge to pat him on the head and tell him that his hopes would be better directed towards someone who liked men, like Swordsman-san. A quiet request for a drink sent him swooning off, and Robin returned to her book, one hand holding the book itself, another holding her bookmark…
…and a third gently pressed into Nami’s in this too-brief moment of mikan-scented privacy.
