Drabble. Yays.
Mar. 8th, 2006 09:59 pmMore Smoker/Zeff, because it's EATING MY BRAIN. And
plotbunny_tiff wrote some too. And then she wrote some more. Yeah, I'm contagious like whoa. And I beg like a shameless whore, too.
Title: Unfair
Series: One Piece.
One Piece: Not mine.
Rating: PG.
Summary: Smoker's a Logia user. Zeff's not.
It occurred to him, sometimes, that they weren’t evenly matched.
Since the two of them had started fooling around, Smoker no longer had reservations about using his Logia on Zeff. He loved the feeling of smoke on skin, loved the way he could make Zeff gasp from across a room with a tendril of effort, even as he pulled his uniform back on and went out to go chase pirates and criminals.
But it wasn’t fair. And in the back of Zeff’s eyes, he could see that. As much as the older man found his abilities fascinating, he still knew that Smoker could hurt him with relative impunity. Nothing short of Zeff eating a Devil Fruit or Smoker slapping a pair of seastone cuffs on himself would change that. Zeff trusted him enough to rest his hand in the lion’s mouth for now, but he wasn’t going to keep it there forever. They both knew it, and tried to keep themselves from getting too attached.
It was hard. Dammit, he liked Zeff. Zeff was a decent human being, unlike ninety percent of pirates that Smoker had encountered. The man would have been a good friend even without the sex…if only he’d been a Marine. Plus, there was the food. The glorious, glorious food. Hina took her hush payments exclusively in Zeff’s cooking.
And every now and then, Zeff would forget himself and tease Smoker in French or Italian or whatever language it was that chefs used when they were being chef-like. What the hell was “mellorine,” anyway?
Occasionally, Smoker would watch Zeff swim out to the rock where he’d moored his dinghy before heading off to wherever his crew had hidden their ship. Then, as he stood on the shore with the surf splashing his feet, seawater making his skin tingle unpleasantly before imparting a feeling of leaden heaviness, he wondered who really had it unfair.

Date: 2006-03-09 07:04 am (UTC)But. Yes. Nice dynamics. And Smoker keeping himself from getting too attached, in any way? Makes me snicker madly. The man has no middle gears.
Hina taking hush payments makes her even more evil since she started it in the first place.
If she was to associate with Nami, they'd rule the world in a matter of weeks, seriously.
The man would have been a good friend even without the sex…
For some reason I can now sea Smoker hitting the Baratie some years later, accompanied by the new assistant fresh out of the Academy that he's been forced to take, dammit.
And Sanji attempting to hit on Tashigi while the father figures are drinking and thinking about the good ol' times.
And possibly doing other stuff.(no subject)
Date: 2006-03-09 08:33 pm (UTC)Hina/Nami is sexy evil. Sanji, Fullbody, and Jango would be their first minions of destruction.
"Hey. How does your old man know my shitty old man?"
"Smoker-san is not old!"
"He's got grey hair."
"It's always been like that. That's what the other Marines say, anyway."
"Hmph. He's grumpy enough to be old. And you still didn't answer my question."
"I...don't know."
"Wanna go spy on them?"
A flurry of vicious kicks and a Logia attack that threw the two of them halfway down the length of the Baratie later, Sanji and Tashigi learned that sneaking up on grumpy old men is harder than it looks.

Date: 2006-03-09 08:40 pm (UTC)YES. Add Alvida in the mix, and all the men are at their feet. They could get the One Piece just by asking nicely and smiling in a mysteriously sexy way.
Oh wait. All the guys in One Piece are gay. Scratch that plan. :/
HAH. Perfect. I was imagining Tashigi being teh bored while Smoker and Zeff, hum, entertain themselves and starting practicing her kata. And Sanji-who's-never-seen-a-girl-before being all impressed and developping a fixation on swords. Or something like that.
