chibi_trillianOkay, so I lied. Here's the very end of Acquired Taste. And I snuck back and fixed a couple of minor problems (Hina's dialogue and a few typos that made it past my betas) on the other chapters.

Summary: A few loose ends are tied up, and Smoker and Zeff tell the truth. Seriously.
“I seem to be saying this increasingly often: where were you?”
Zeff sighed, depositing the bag of fruits and vegetables on the table before turning around to face Captain Lawson. He couldn’t say he hadn’t been expecting it. He was supposed to have been back here last night, and from the state of his stove, the first mate had decided to take a crack at cooking breakfast. Good lord, that was a lot of bacon grease.
If he told Lawson the whole truth, Lawson’s head would likely explode. And then he’d put himself back together just so he could kill Zeff for endangering the crew.
If he told a complete lie, Lawson would likely know. And lies were usually more trouble than they were worth.
So instead, he grinned at Lawson and said, “I ran into a good-looking pink-haired girl who wouldn’t take ‘No’ for an answer.”

“So where were you? I heard you and Hina had been having problems, but…”
Smoker sighed at the other cadet’s prying, wishing he’d been assigned to KP with someone else. Nezumi was a nosy fucker, and he had the hots for Hina. This guy was one of several hundred reasons why Hina used Smoker as a screen. But if she was going to be as horrid to him as she had been lately…
“Hina and I…decided to call it off.” Smoker looked away, kept his voice flat-sounding. To Nezumi, it probably sounded like he was restraining strong emotion. Actually, he was trying very hard to keep a straight face. “I’m seeing someone else now.”
Nezumi managed to keep himself from visibly drooling, but it was a near thing. “Oh, uh, that’s, um, horrid. But your new girl! What’s she like?”
“Blond. A little older than I am. Kind of bossy. But the best damn legs in East Blue.”
