If you're in the United States, of legal age, and registered, get your ass out there and vote today. Negative ads are designed to make you not want to vote. For the Land of the Free and the Home of Democracy, we've got a shamefully low voter turnout rate--usually around 40% for midterm elections. So be a nonconformist and take an active role in politics. Research your candidates: there are websites like OnTheIssues.org that lay out candidates' voting records and stated positions on things like gun control, military spending, gay marriage, the economy, and legalization of marijuana. Go to their websites. Check out what they all have to say. And then vote as an informed American citizen for the person you think best represents your beliefs.

And if you're of age and not registered...WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU? "I DON'T WANT JURY DUTY" AND "POLITICS MAKE MY HEAD HURT" ARE NOT ADEQUATE EXCUSES!

Ahem.

Yes. Please vote in this election, or register to do so in the next.

I'm heading out in a few minutes to do my part for the country by voting Rick Santorum out of office. Gonna try to get a Democratic representive for our district as well, but that's a bit more of a stretch when we're smack up against farm country. ~_~

Hey, not all farmers are Republican. My dad's registered as an Independent.

From the MSNBC projections and counts, looks like it worked. Casey pwned the shit out of Santorum. XD

...I still can't think of him without thinking of the sex-related term "santorum" before I pull up his face and remember what it is he does again.

Exactly what Dan Savage hoped. I even told my parents the definition of "santorum" - amusing my mother to no end, to the extent that she then told the local borough cousel (where she's vice president) what it meant as well. ^^;;

I, personally, feel really stupid. I was planning on voting, only to find out that when I moved recently that I needed to re-register and I didn't find this out until it was a day too late to register for this election. I'm ready for the next one, though.

Oh, interesting perspective. Conforming to the "majority" if you DON'T vote. I'm not registered, but maybe I will so I can vote in 2008. Not that a certain someone is gonna get re-elected, unless he ****'s with the system and changes the rules so he can. (President...or Dictator. Little difference right now.)

Or is it "Hear Hear"? I always get that confused. Anyway, Right On.

I wonder how badly the late absentee ballot mailing will play into our state's results.

I think it's "hear hear." I could be wrong, though.

As for absentee ballots, I don't know. As of MSNBC reports right now (97% of precincts reporting), Cardin's got a full 10% lead on Steele, so I think we're safe in saying Cardin's our new senator. O'Malley's only got 7% on Erlich, though (with 96% of precincts reporting), so it's a little early to wave the governor flag for him yet.
