Makes me happy like a banana sticker.
Dec. 31st, 2006 04:45 amI read it a few days ago, but I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off so I haven't had a chance to properly react to it yet.
OLD HOME WEEK HELL YES. As addicted to the minor characters as I am, this week was like heaven for me.
ZEFF. And the chefs on the Baratie being assholes and distributing Sanji's fugly bounty poster far and wide. I bet even if he gets a decent picture they'll keep that one and just draw new numbers on it as his bounty goes up.
And it's so good to see Makino again. Eeeee. Though the mayor seems to know a bit about Luffy's family--he obviously knows Garp and Dragon. Maybe this was why he raised such a fuss about Luffy going off to sea?
Miss Kaya seems to have grown up and filled out a bit. >>; Oh Usopp, you're a lucky man.
ZORO'S SENSEI. There is so totally not enough of this man in the manga. You know he's got to be hot shit--he taught Zoro, after all, and he knew how to do the blade that cuts nothing--but you only see him for a few panels. ARG, I BET HE'S AN EX-MARINE OR A SECRET AGENT OR BUDDIES WITH MIHAWK OR SOMETHING. But we'll never know, because he only shows up in Zoro-flashback.
Poor Nami. She'd going to get SUCH a talking-to when she gets home. On the other hand, she looks good to win the Hottest Wanted Criminal of the Year Award, at least if Gen's reaction was any indication.
XD Dr. Kureha's still the baddest old bitch in the world, offering to rent Dalton a room in his own palace. Rapan-riding FTW.
And ACE. Badassery, but still OHNOES. Though the plot begins to thicken, as we now know why Blackbeard killed one of his nakama. It was also curious to note that Blackbeard genuinely cares for his crew, worrying whether they're injured and telling them to run when Ace starts getting serious because they can't handle it. It was a little like watching a weirdly distorted mirror of Luffy--very freaky.
The only thing this chapter was missing was Johnny and Yosaku. WHERE ARE THEY ODA-SENSEI? I require their wonderous dorkdom and knowledge of what they are up to. ;_;

Date: 2006-12-31 10:42 am (UTC)And, I didn't notice the similarity between Blackbeard and Luffy, but now you mention it...
AND SPEAKING OF ZORO'S SENSEI. He must be totally like a secret agent for Mihawk - trying to train someone who can beat him. You know Mihawk's sick of his title by now. He just wants to sit at home, and write an autobiography entitled something like "A Swordy Life On The Seas". By Dracule "Hawk Eyes" Mihawk.

Date: 2006-12-31 03:08 pm (UTC)Why would you say that?
We can't suggest dead. Even if Oda doesn't kill characters.. They might've run into someone.
Or, they're on the GrandLine.. And Oda's got something in store for them :D

Date: 2006-12-31 05:10 pm (UTC)Yeah, Blackbeard is getting to be more and more intriguing. Back in Mocktown, Blackbeard and Luffy had more in common - even while fighting over pie (or maybe because they were fighting over pie) - than Luffy and Bellamy, who was beneath contempt. I also found that interesting, how Blackbeard told his buddies to run for it, and how he genuinely recognizes his own guilt at killing his nakama; he doesn't toss it off, like I'd expected him to, he uses the severity of the crime to measure how much he needed that fruit.
Darkness against fire...Thank god Oda-sensei never kills anybody, or I'd be really worried about Ace. If the next chapter doesn't show what happened, I'll have kittens.
(Doctorine IS the badassiest, for sure)
