Oh NOES. It's 94 degrees out today, and our AC is still broken. It's already 87 degrees in here, and the sun just came out to make sure it gets extra toasty. I am in the process of drinking my very last cold soda, leaving me with the decision of "get more, spend money" or "bust into my emergency work stash in the car and toss some in the fridge, leaving me sodaless for work." I'm going to melt. MELT, I tell you. Liquify and ooze right into my neighbor's nice, air-conditioned apartment. I may even sublimate entirely and spend some quality time as a gas.

I'd go out and sit in my air conditioned car, maybe take a drive, but I can't afford the gas, especially the gas with the AC on. [livejournal.com profile] alucardblue was nice enough to give me $5 for gas yesterday, but with gas at ~$2 a gallon five bucks doesn't go too far. I think I'm going to have to put paying my bills off until the last minute in order to get gas to get to and from work.

Work has been interesting. I work for Pentex R&D, and I've been sworn to secrecy. I am not allowed to speak of anything I see at my job in specifics, or there with be, and I quote, "legal issues." This means I can't tell anyone anything entertaining that may have happened at work without editing out any and all detail, like this:

I got to see my first massive corporate fuckup on Friday. The first lots of New Product Q with New Feature X came off the production line that day. As is pretty standard in a product with a new feature, there was a comparison picture on the box, old feature versus the vast 1337ness of new feature. There was also a small pamphlet in the box. My supervisors were delighted, as this product had been their baby for the past few years. They opened up the box, looked at the pamphlet, and suddenly, one of them went, "That's the wrong artwork." The pamphlet had a picture of the product...with the old feature. The old feature was highlighted prominently, actually. This had gone through dozens of checks, and these products were going out to consumers, and still someone had missed that massive oopsie until the engineeers who worked on the product looked at it. There were, naturally, hysterics, weeping, recriminations, and general bitching about the advertising and graphics design sections. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or be sympathetic.

It just kind of loses something.

I think I may take a drive anyway, as it's so hot in here that I'm starting to get nauseated. Bleh.
