Found out what the problem was: the alien sensation of getting enough sleep. Small wonder I was disoriented.
As promised, fiction. It probably sucks. Now I need to run to go play good Samaritan.
Title: Numbers
Series: One Piece.
One Piece: Not mine.
Rating: PG.
Summary: Nakamashippiness. Spoilers through current chapter (398).
In the beginning, there was Luffy and Zoro. Strong and flexible, sweet and salty, captain and first mate.
Then Nami came along, and the flexibility reached out to encompass her too. The strength took a bit longer, but the first mate always followed his captain in the end.
Then there was Usopp, still tied to the place and the girl he left behind. After the first few tentative advances, the three of them left him alone to marinate.
Then Sanji stepped on board. After the mess with Arlong, the three became four, then briefly three again as Sanji split off to see if Usopp liked blonde girls or just blonds.
The latter proved to be true, and Sanji gently coaxed the sniper into the loving embrace of the rest of his nakama. The four became five.
Then Vivi fell into their company. The kind girl made her way into their hearts so quickly that the five became six almost effortlessly.
Then they acquired Chopper. The man-reindeer had been so hungry for affection than he’d cried the first time Luffy picked him up and snuggled him. The six became seven, even if the seventh preferred to be held and cuddled for most of the year.
Then sweet Vivi left, tied to her country and her responsibilities. The seven became six, though they all left part of their hearts on Alabasta.
Then Robin slipped aboard. Harder to bring over than even Usopp, it was a long time before old hurts faded enough for hands to be reached out to the woman with too many of them, and even longer before she started reaching back. But when she did, and the six were seven again, they swore that nothing would reduce their number afterwards.
Then they went to Water 7, and the seven abruptly became five. Usopp insisted that the seven had actually been eight, and was willing to leave the rest of them to stay with the sickest member of their crew. Robin just vanished like mist on the wind, and the five scattered to find her.
Now, standing here, seeing the tears in Robin’s eyes and the cracks in a wooden mask, the seven were never really separated to begin with. In the flames of a burning flag, the seven would become one.
As promised, fiction. It probably sucks. Now I need to run to go play good Samaritan.

Date: 2006-02-10 03:54 am (UTC)It's intended to sound like they're having squoodles of nookie (ooooh, and Sanji had to seduce Usopp with his er, masculine wiles. Does Sanji get wiles?). I tend to use "nakamaship" to mean "Strawhat orgy." I'm bad like that.

Date: 2006-02-10 10:20 am (UTC)Can I hopefully add that the Seven will become eight? I have a pining need for Paulie to join. They should have a proper carpenter. That's my excuse. The hot threesome/foursome/fivesome porn that could generate has nothing at all to do it it. *innocent*
