Fluff is not supposed to hurt.
Apr. 22nd, 2006 07:20 pmIn light of Chapter 407, I deserve stabbings for this. STABBINGS. Shit, I feel bad for writing it, but it latched onto my brain while I was thinking about 407 and this week's topic over at
onepieceyaoi100 and it made sense. *headdesk*
Crap, this is the first het I've written in forever.
Title: Puppy Love
Series: One Piece.
One Piece: Not mine.
Rating: G.
Summary: Chopper has a schoolboy crush on a certain archeologist. Water 7/Enies Lobby spoilers.
Chopper had always had just the tiniest bit of a crush on Robin.
She was smart—smarter maybe than even Doctorine. She was beautiful—tall and stately like the pine trees back home, with eyes like a clear winter sky. And she seemed to like him and seek out his company. It had made him nervous at first, but later it had just felt nice, her presence calm and soothing while he worked on an experiment or took notes from a book. Sometimes, Chopper thought he was happiest when he and Robin just sat quietly in the galley reading. “Puppy love,” Doctorine would have called it, even though Chopper wasn’t a puppy or even anything from the Canidae family.
And then Robin had gone away without saying a word.
There had never been any question that they’d all chase after her. Even Usopp, wherever he was, was undoubtedly helping out. Maybe he’d sent this Sogeking guy because he was too injured to fight—Chopper hoped so. Usopp needed to be taking it easy, as badly hurt as he was.
As Robin’s story echoed across the gulf of air between her captors and her nakama, Chopper finally understood something she had once said to him long ago, something that had seemed strange at the time.
“We are both monsters, Doctor-san.”
But Robin wasn’t a monster. She was Robin.
And if Chopper could save her, maybe he wasn’t a monster either.
