Summary: Robin ~~> Zoro OMG HET WTF. Set right after Robin joins the crew. Who watches the watcher watching the person who watches the watcher?
Zoro watched people. It was a habit started with Kuina, watching the way she moved, trying to figure out a way to defeat her, trying to unlock the secret of her strength and skill. That early practice had later proved to be a literal lifesaver, as he learned to analyze the fighting abilities and styles of his opponents simply by observation of their normal movements.
It hadn’t helped him beat Kuina, and it hadn’t helped him beat Mihawk, but it was damn handy for every other swordsman he’d come up against. Kuro, Hachi, and most recently, Mr. 1. He’d never forget the way Mr. 1 moved, the body language of a man who is armed no matter which way he turns or which limb he strikes with. It had nearly been Zoro’s end, but he’d found strength and understanding on the border between life and death and had rallied back to defeat his opponent.
And now…he watched Robin. He didn’t trust her, no matter what Luffy said. Not only was she a former enemy, and not only was he not entirely certain he could defeat her Devil Fruit-enhanced abilities in a fight, but she watched people too. Zoro just knew she was watching his every movement, storing it away somewhere, observing him the exact same way he observed her. When would she strike? When would those long-fingered hands clamp onto his body? How would she attack? That disabling clutch attack? Would she slay him with his own weapons? Would she simply smother him or snap his neck, arms sprouting out of nowhere, an attack that could not be guarded against?
She was watching him now, deep blue eyes focused on him as he trained, book open and forgotten on her lap. The hair on the back of Zoro’s neck prickled, and he swore silently that even if he couldn’t best her in a fight, he’d never let her catch him with his guard down.

Robin watched the ripple of Zoro’s muscles under his tanned, scarred skin, appreciated the way sweat plastered his shirt and pants to his rather spectacular body. Every movement conveyed strength and control, even as his obsessive training told of an inner lack of self-confidence. He noticed her interested gaze, and the slight tensing of his shoulders conveyed volumes about his distrust of her motives.
He had reason to be concerned, though probably not the ones he was thinking of. After all, when one had as little stability in one’s life as Robin had, one learned to seize good things when they were in front of you.
