You know, once you've had real ramen, with meat and vegetables and broth worth eating and fresh-made noodles in a bowl the size of your HEAD, instant ramen just doesn't taste as good anymore. Damn you, ramen shop. Why must you be in Tucson?

On a related subject, I've noticed that no two people make instant (block, not cup) ramen the same way. I add the seasoning into the water before I turn on the heat, cook the noodles in the seasoned water, and pour off the broth. [livejournal.com profile] plotbunny_tiff adds the seasoning to the water with the noodles, adds pepper and other spices as well, and eats the broth. [livejournal.com profile] tarvosio cooks broth and noodles down to a highly flavored sludge. [livejournal.com profile] jacks_shadow makes his Japanese-style with an egg on top. [livejournal.com profile] alucardblue...eats mostly cup ramen and I can't remember how he fixes his block ramen, which means it's either horribly mundane or so strange that I've purged it from my memory lest I go insane. Mmmm...ramen of Cthulu.

...Chtulu's Ramen is seasoned with pain, suffering, and the screams of the pathetic mortals as they're sent hurling towards oblivion.
That, and paprika. ^_^

...I make real ramen. Like, not block.
And...it tastes exactly the same.

well I used to make my ramen the way my mom did, by first breaking the ramen apart so it was little bits and then pouring it + the seasoning into a pot and adding ramen and cooking as such. now I just throw a block in, pour half my seasonings and save the rest, add water, cook, drain if necessary (I don't mind a lil' soupy but too soupy is bah), add the rest of the seasoning and voila!
I've also been fortunate enough to eat real ramen when I was in London. it pwnt. the spoons for it did not, however. >:P

just so you know I make my block raman with seasoning afterward, and adding in any other seaonings, herbs, and spices that I happen to feel like having in it too. this tends towards things like crushed red peppers, chile powder, etc.
